Kimberley – Broome & the Dampier Peninsula

Image
KIMBERLEY - BROOME &  THE DAMPIER PENINSULA Broome , Western Australia's gateway to the Kimberley, transforms into one of the states most vibrant hubs during the winter and the north-west dry season (May - October). With daily direct flights from the eastern states, it's now easier than ever to reconnect with friends and family while escaping the chill and rain. Having visited Broome several times, we were eager to give our first-time visitor friends a taste of the Kimberley's splendor over a long weekend in July. Arriving at lunchtime, Broome's airport is conveniently located close to Broome central. Taxis in Broome are in demand and with no ride-share options (ie: Uber), I recommend booking your airport to accommodation transfer prior to arrival. Depending on where you choose to stay - Broome Central or Cable Beach - there is plenty to see and do and the local Broome Explorer Bus is the cheapest and most convenient way to get around. Spain – Segovia (A Day Trip from Madrid)

Image
SEGOVIA When I was researching day trips from Madrid, the question was often asked - which is better  Toledo  or  Segovia ? We chose Segovia over Toledo as we were promised suckling pig for lunch and because Segovia is a little less touristy than Toledo.  Segovia Trains from Madrid to Segovia run frequently and take around 30 minutes from  Madrid-Chamartín Station . Once you arrive in Segovia, it's best to take a taxi to the Alcazar located at the top of the hill and then spend the day meandering your way down to the Aqueduct. The  Alcazar of Segovia  is a very impressive medieval castle. Built around the 11th century, the fortress is built into the rock at the western end of the Segovia's old town. Throughout the centuries it has been used as a palace, military fort and now museum and UNESCO world heritage site. The amour collection is exceptional, along with the tapestries, frescos and tiles. I can't imagine how many lives have been tossed of...
